Can't uninstall MCE

Featured Replies

Hello, I have been trying several times to uninstall MCE demo in order to update to the regular version. However the uninstallation process always stalls at around 25% (waiting for more than 45 minutes before cancelling the uninstallation). I use Windows10 and I tried to disable UAC without success. Anybody had the same issue ? Is there an alternative way to uninstall ?            Thank you for your help

It is known to occassionally happen.

But that's more to do with Microsoft Installer technology which is used to install and remove MCE. We don't control that process.

I suggest you ensure none of the help documents that come as part of the package are open or any tool running, so that the un-installer can proceed normally.

Best not to switch to other tasks while this is goinbg on, because at some point the un-installer will prompt you to elevate to admin so it can proceed further. You may miss the prompt.

Eventually, there is a way to get rid of MCE manually in case the Microsoft un-installe doesn't get you anywhere.

Not sure what you mean by the regular version. It's the same Demo that gets activated by putting a unique key (tailored to your hardware) that goes inside \Multi Crew Experience\ installation folder.

Thank you , I made sure nothing is opened during the uninstallation process, clicked on the admin elevation but no success. Can you please detail the manual uninstallation process ?

As instructed via e-mail by colleague, I am copying the steps for others

If you heard about regedit tool (Windows registry tool) please proced as follows....

In task bar at the bottom of the Windows 10 dektop search box, type regedit

Windows will find the tool. Run it

Before doing anything, make a backup of the entire registry

Click File->Export All and save the file just in case.

In Regedit, click Edit->Find, select "Keys" only for options, type FS++ and click <Find>

Regedit will find the entry.

If you have other products from us, only delete <Multi Crew Experience> subkey. Otherwise, delete <FS++> key

Next, to get id of the text that shows-up in Windows Control Panel, add-remove programs, do another search for Multi Crew Experience Ultimate Edition (using all search options, notably data)

Regedit, will find a folder with some unique sequence of letters and digits (128 characters long). Looks like this on my system
B0D176CCAA543DDDDD875AA99....

Yours will be different. But on the right side, you should see it is related to MCE.

Delete that key that has the long sequence of characters.

Close Registry editor.

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\ folder and manually delete <Multi Crew Experience\ folder.

That should get rid of it

Hi,

got the same problem. I unfortunately deleted the core path of MCE and can't reinstall with a newer version. Is it pssoble to get the version 3.0.7.3 re-downloaded to do a proper installation and de-installation before upgrading to the lastest one?

Would be very appreciating.

You can with this workaround...

Instead of running "InstallMCE", open <Resources> folder and run the "xPack.msi" file.

That will get MCE installed for sure.

If running, Prepar3D or FSX, some files are expected to be added to the simulator root folder prior to installing MCE. Not vital for MSFS.

In that case, un-install via WIndows Control Panel and re-run InstallMCE..

But if I try to re-install via xpack.msi from the latest version it won't work neither. It offers repair or remove options inside the dialogue only.

I recieve an error code 1500.

I have re-started the computer again and tried to repair my previous version via xPack.

The following error code appeared: 1334 "_* (33 item long) can't be installed because it could not be found in Instal01.cab 😞

Installation then is rolled back without any chance to stop.

The installation and repair are automatically handled by Microsoft Installer.

My guess, you are tweaking your system and getting rid of some files, including those that Microsoft Installer keeps when it needs to restore files it detects are missing.

There is another workaround...

Un-install MCE via Windows Control Panel.

In Windows search box type regedit

Run the registry tool.

Click menu Edit->Find and search for FS++ key

When found, you should see a <Multi Crew Experience> subkey. Delete that one and close registry.

Should now be able to just run "InstallMCE" .
