Very Strange Problem -- Solved

Featured Replies

This problem suddenly started today. If I have an plane ( I tried a number of them)  sitting on the runway, then if I push the F10 key, the plane pops up into the air, maybe a couple hundred feet or so, and then falls and crashes! If I hit F10 again, the plane again pops up into the air despite the crash, etc.  I have checked all the key bindings, both ASSIGNED and ALL,  and the only one I found for F10 was to see the specifications, but I even removed that. I use FSUIPC, but completely disabled that as well, and have restarted the sim and computer a number of times. No other sim related apps are running as best as I can tell. I also checked to make sure I was not in Slew mode somehow.  As I said, this is very strange.

Any ideas appreciated.

I finally managed to fix the 'F10' problem described above, although exactly what the issue was I don't know.  Although the F10 key did not show up as assigned to anything, it was causing the problem. So long story short, it finally occurred to me that maybe something in the keyboard profile got corrupted somehow.  I periodically make a backup copy of the sim wgs folder, which is where all the controller profiles are stored, so I replaced my current wgs folder with my most recent wgs backup, and that solved the F10 problem.  🙂

The sim saves a copy of your wgs folder (or maybe just the profiles in that folder) to the 'cloud', but I would still suggest periodically saving your own backup copies of the wgs folder.  I don't know how often the sim backs up the wgs folder to the cloud, but if a file in the wgs folder gets corrupted, it could turn out that what gets stored in the cloud is the corrupted version. So having a few wgs folder backups saved on your system seems like a reasonable idea to me. The wgs folder is relatively small, a few MBs or so.

As an aside, I noticed that when I changed the wgs folder, the three Departure and three Arrival 'history' airports listed on the World Map screen also changed. So maybe that info is also stored in the wgs folder.
