January 23, 20224 yr Using both Prepar3DV 5.3 and MSFS with TrackIR5 My observation is that MSFS is doing something with the signal from TrackIR5 that Prepar3D V5.3 isn't. The reason I say this is that I have both sim running perfectly smoothly at the same FPS and Display refresh rate with Vsync on but in MSFS panning is perfectly smooth whereas in Prepar3D V5.3 it is not. If I look at the TrackIR5 GUI display with the 3D view and move my head around I can see the exact same stutter as I see in P3D when I move my head around. I know P3D is not the culprit here because if I pause or quite TrackIR and pan with the mouse it is perfectly smooth like MSFS is with TrackIR. My conclusion is that MSFS has code to smooth out signal from TrackIR for smooth panning and P3D doesn't or am I missing something? Does anyone have a solution to smooth out TrackIR Panning in Prepar3D? January 24, 20224 yr I use Chaseplane for Track IR in P3D, it works absolutely flawless and is much better than native usage of TrackIR. January 24, 20224 yr Author Thanks, I had just been thinking that I remember EZCA has a smoothing function. I haven't used any of this stuff in a couple of years so I can hardly remember anything. Thanks for the tip. I'll install EZCA when I have a minute or I mean a couple of hours if I remember correctly! 😆 Intel Core i9-10900K at 5.2GHz, Corsair H115i PRO, ASUS MAXIMUS XII HERO Z490, G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 15-16-16-36, ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090, SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 1TB x 3, Corsair HX Series HX1000 Watt PSU, Pimax Crystal LIght.
January 24, 20224 yr Author So, I got EZCA set up and it did the trick. Panning is now perfectly smooth. The is a couple of dial in the panning devices section for TrackIR with a range of 0-1000. I set both of them around 100 and it completely cleaned up the panning. Great!😁 Intel Core i9-10900K at 5.2GHz, Corsair H115i PRO, ASUS MAXIMUS XII HERO Z490, G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 15-16-16-36, ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090, SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 1TB x 3, Corsair HX Series HX1000 Watt PSU, Pimax Crystal LIght.
January 24, 20224 yr Author There may be another solution to this problem that doesn't rely on Chaseplane or EZCA. I can try it now because I've already installed EZCA and when its unregistered TrackIR doesn't work and I'm not going through all that rigmarole to find out. There is a setting under Prepar3D options/Other Controls. A check box "Enable Joystick Camera Smoothing". hovering over it gives the description: "Selection this options to smooth the movements when panning with a joystick". That sound like the ticket to me.
