May 13, 200719 yr "no "sunlight" textures in FSX with added on planes" Author Earl_Buice Author Info Member since Sep 21st 2003 245 posts Date Sun May-13-07 03:28 PM Message Hi folks,I have installed the fantastic FSX L049 and a Posky 737-800 v4 in FSX along with a couple of other planes which are "upgraded" for FSX from FS9. They fly fine and all seems ok except in all exterior views, I get shine but no sunlit textures. They look like they are in the shade or under a cloud. I have done a diligent search trying to find the answer but to no avail. The odd thing is that when I select the plane in the "Freeflight" screen before I hit FLY, it looks good. It looks just like the default planes. In game, looks as described above. Can anyone suggest something? Also, in cockpit view, when my mouse rolls over and tooltips try to come up, I get a black screen while the drive churns for a few seconds and then back to ok. When it returns to ok, it is fine until I happen to roll over another tooltip... etc.Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks,Earl
May 14, 200719 yr Look in the texture folder. If the files are .dds they should show sunlight, if they're .bmp they probably won't.That's one reason why FSX isn't FS9.Allcott
May 14, 200719 yr Author Thanks for the reply, Allcott. They are bmp files. I suspected that to be the problem until I read hundreds of posts saying how good they looked in FSX. This included some of the Posky planes. Two things:1- I must have read hundreds of posts saying how good some of the planes looked in FSX. These werer planes which have been upgraded for FSX, like the L049. I think Milton's planes wer among them.2- I'm not talking about planes made for FS9 and trying tog et them to work, I'm talking about planes listed in Avsim under FSX.So, is there a program to change bmps to dds? Thanks,Earl
