  1. I had no issues installing in Vist 64 by just running the CD. It installed to the Program Files (64) andworks great! When I run FlyII, I change the res on my monitor to the same as FLYII max (I think it is 1024v768) works great! Here is my original post:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=249875Best! regards,Earl
  2. MerryChristmas!
  3. I'd like to say hello and thanks to you, Frank and Geofa and Opa. I've enjoyed FS a lot more because of you guys and the other gifted developers. I miss the old days too. It was exciting to "hunt" for gems to add on to FS2000 then 2002, then 2004. Somehow it isn't the same for FSX. I enjoyed FLYII and Train Sim too.Oh well, Frank, please don't be a stranger and please do consider developing for us again!Welcome back!Earl
  4. Just FYI, I am running FSX Acceleration, Win Vista 64 SP2, GTX 260, i7-940, 3G DDR3 Tri Channel RAM. I have had no issues with anything in FSX or FLYII.Best regards,Earl
  5. Hi Ken,Sorry for the delay, I just now saw your reply. Thanks for your info, I'll check it against mine shortly. As is usually the case, my problems were no further away than my own nose! I did not yet (still don't completely) understand how to work with my GTX card. FLYII now is much better and very fluid. It's funny thinking back on the old days of Beta Test and early release of FLYII how it seemed as though "fluid" wasn't possible for FLYII. I thought I had a pretty fair system for the time, PIII800, 256M RAM, WIN98SE.Thanks again, Ken. I hope all is well with you and family.God bless,Earl
  6. Hi Ken and all!I'm really glad these guys were able to save all this knowledge. So much of this stuff would just be lost to us if they hadn't.It is so good to be back! Thanks Avsim!God bless,Earl
  7. Hi FLYII ers!Wow, it has been a while since I posted here but I have been lurking every now and then. FLYII is still great!I have a problem with jagged edges. I have loaded FLYII onto my new gamer: i7-940, 3G DDR3, Vista 64 SP1, GTX260. Incidentally, I no issues just running the CD to install FLYII and loading the updates to 240. I thought I read where some had problems with this on Vista 64.Of course it sings on this beast but no matter what I do, I have jagged edges as though I have no smoothing. Anti-aliasing doesn't seem to be working even when set to 16x.Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,Earl
  8. This is excellent advice, Ron. I survived a heart attack and later a lung transplant due to an incurable disease called IPF. I think I had some of the greatest medical minds in the world helping me but I give ******* Christ the credit for these and all my miracles. I followed all your advice and am healed today. So, there is only one, although major, adjustment I would make to your advice: if Bob is not a believer, become a true believer and then pray for His guidance and healing. The positive attitude, maintenance of lifestyle, keep everything as normal as possible and by all means do what the doctor says are excellent. 30 minutes a day on the treadmill helps too!God bless,Earl
  9. For what it is worth, I have a new i7-940, MSI MB w/3G RAM, Vista 64 and GTX260 running this driver. I have just finished installing SP1 and 2 and setting all main sliders almost to max and DX10 on. It is awsome!Merry Christmas!
  10. Guys,I've been simin since about 1999. My old computer is a PIII800 512 RAM... barely could run FS2000 much less FS2004. I've posted in the FSX and FS9 forums but never in hardware that I recall.I just ordered a I7-940, 3G RAM DDR3 1333, 500MB HDD, EVGA GTX260, Vista 64, MSI X58 Platinum MB. Thermaltake 850W 8800 GTX certified PSU. I had a lot of trouble trying to decide who to order from! I read and researched till my mouse fell apart. I finally decided on Cyberpower. I know there are a lot of negative things on the web about them and even in their own support forums, but I didn't find any who looked any better. The price was fantastic for this systemI am hoping to run FSX very well in DX10. FS2004 maxed out!Questions:1- How bad did I mess up with my system specs?2- Will I be happy, satisfied or dissappointed?3- How bad did I mess up ordering from Cyberpower?4- I plan on ordering more RAM when I find a really good deal. Would someone please recommend what to buy and where?5- What drivers do I need to download for the GTX260?Merry Christmas all! Thanks for any comment.Earl
  11. Hi guys,I have been flight simming since the beginnings of FS2000. I have a 800MHz P3 w/ 512 SDRAM. Yes, I know. I couldn't do better until now.Anyway, I have been trying to narrow down what to buy. It seems I can get a pretty good I7 940 w/ GTX260 and 3G RAM for around 1800.00. The best I could do with a QX9650 system was around 1600 and Q6600 for around 13-1500.I'm trying to get a system which will last through FS11 while running FSX/FS9 well. So, I'm also assuming I need to stay with the quad cores and at least 3GHz from what I've read here in the forums.$1800.00 I7 specs:CS_FAN: Extra Case Cooling Fan [+3] (3 x Fans [+6]) CPU: Intel
  12. Brian,It's been a while and I'm very rusty .... Try starting with your plane at a totally different airport. then move it to the correct one. I think I recall this is a known bug.Earl
  13. Hi Andrew,That is very generous of you. If it is still available, I would like to have it. I use FSX but also still like FLYII.I live in Georgia USA. Please send me an email with instructions. Thanks,Earl

  19. Hey Chris!I was just thinking about you and AEU8 the other day and now here it is! I can't wait to download and try it out. I'm sure it will be eye popping good!Congrats on getting it done and out to the sim community. Glad to hear all is going well on the career front.God bless,Earl
  20. I would like tom add my thanks to AFG and to Thomas for a very, very great plane! I didn't know about the FSX patch until yesterday when this post came back around. This plane is fantastic! It flies extremely well. It has great frame rates. It looks like the real thing, even up around the windscreen. This is usually a trouble spot for most otherwise great looking planes. But not this one!I thing I did find was in the FSX patch, in the aircraft.cfg, the second paint (number 1):[fltsim.1]title = KingAir 300 v10 - D-IBER -sim = KingAir300model =panel = fsxsound = defaultThe sound has the word default next to it as shown above. You have to erase that word so this paint will have sound.Other than that, this is a wonderful plane! Thanks so much AFG and Thomas!God bless,Earl
  21. Hello everyone!I just want to add my thanks to all you fantastic workers and developers who are keeping the greatest flight simulator alive. I'm looking forward to trying the new FLY Legacy as soon as possible.god bless,Earl
  22. Hi John,I am still a little unclear myself as to why this is happening. It has to do with the extra layer of protection built in to Vista. What I do until I can understand the problem better, is to open the file, make my changes and then hit the "save as" selection rather than "save". I choose the "My Documents" folder or somewhere I can remember easily to save it in. Then I go back and cut from that location, go to the correct folder, back up the original file, then paste my new file replacing the original.I know this is a lot more than we are used to but honestly, it has saved me from making mistakes a couple of times already.hope this helps.Take care and keep FLY!ngEarl
  23. Hi Randall,I have a ton of elevation files in my data folder. I wonder if I podded those if it might help my system.Or, what do all you guys have use for elevation? Thanks,Earl
  24. John,I went exactly step by step following Ken Salters great sticky at the beginning of this forum:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...esg_id=55&page=Do not try to fly before first 5 steps are completed. Get to v240. I'm confident you'll have a great experience!Take care. All the best!Earl
