May 14, 200719 yr Hello,I made this overview table to compare various products of A380 models and how their visual model performs in FSX:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171650.jpgSo far Overlands commercial product passes all visual tests and Robert Versluy's A380 fails in one point. Abacus offers a -700 and -900 version already but misses quite some visual features.Note: These are results from my PC only. Maybe some things work on another machine ...---------------------------------------Freeware A380 Load Editor coming soon !
May 15, 200719 yr Author I use Overland A380, and I agree with your findings!, There is a downside though in regard to the reversers. In actuality in the sim all 4 engines go into reverse, you can tell by the fan blade animation, but the outer cowling animation is locked, so it appears only the inner engines are in reverse. While this appears realistic, it's only policy that the inner engines are used for reversers. Because of the way FS engages reversers with the F2 key all reversers engage. This is why the other models show all 4 reversers. They can be engaged individually with the mouse though. If you wanted to engage all 4 in the Overland model, it wouldn't be possible visually, since the outer cowlings are not animated. So in that sense, the other models are more accurate, but since FS doesn't handle individual engine controls very easily, (atleast with the more common joysticks, and throttle controllers) the Overland approach is best for the average FS user! If you do have individual throttle quadrants the other models may work better for you. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
