FSX "out of available memory" with 2 GB RAM & 7 GB pagefile

Featured Replies

Will FS Autostart work under Vista? What do you use to shut down all the "Vista Crap?" Also is there a good valid list available of all components of eligible "Vista Crap?"Thank you, Steve

I almost wish my OOM errors were a time-of-flight issue. Mine only seem to happen within 35 miles of KPIT, which is frustrating since its the largest airport in my home turf. And oddly only when I'm flying into that particular airport. As far as I can tell, there's nothing I can do other than avoid the airport.

That's what I suspected, it must be with the Nvidia 8800 drivers. Well, this problem disappeared after I installed the latest BETA drivers (158.43) from nzone.com. No more OOM errors. (I hope!)Before installing the new drivers, I also tried to let Vista manage my pagefiles rather than making them fixed (didn't help), I killed over 20 unnecessary services from the background (didn't help) etc. so now I can finally enjoy this sim. I also experimented with keeping all the services and some applications open, and so far I've been able to fly many times longer than before - no OOM error so far.

I am going to try 158.43v Beta ForceWare drivers...

This is before and after SP1 (which I had hoped would resolve the problem). My rig:C2D E6600 @ 3.48800 GTX, 158.18 WQHL Driver4GB RAMVista 64FSX DeluxeTrackIR 3I can up the sliders and have beautiful and fluid performance, but only for 30 minutes. I discovered early on that by lowering the autogen density I could evade the OOM 30 minute limitation. Therein lies the delimma for me. I love the eye candy because I'm a tree hugging flyer and it just kills me to drop the sliders back. It's reflected in the way I have been flying lately. I hop around the world like a giant flea in leaps of 30 minutes or less.Al

>>> I am going to try 158.43v Beta ForceWare drivers...>>>Well, did they work for you? I haven't tried them. I did notice that when I start flying task manager is telling me that I'm using 2.1GB of physical memory. As I fly that number increases slowly to 2.6 and that is when I get the freeze up and OOM. I'm hoping the fix is with that latest driver. Let us know.Al
