May 17, 200719 yr Hey everyone, i saw a post yesterday about the proper installation order but now it has gotten lost. I think Ryan from PMDG had posted. For a clean FSX install in my other new internal SATA HD do I:First: Install FSXSecond: Install VS2005 ( Is this only 1 file or is ther more to this? )Third: Install SP1Fourth: Finally enjoy FSXI want to make sure I get this right the first time to avoid issues. Am I missing anything here? I also wanted to know if any other twaeks of any sort are needed to the FSXcfg file. I feel like I am starting all over again, as I know very little about FSX's inter workings. Your help is greatly appreciated.EDIT: I found the original post I was looking for. They sure are getting burried fast since activity picked up last night.
May 17, 200719 yr Hi,You're looking for this:"Before you post a thread about how much SP1 sucks, MS/ACES "is a joke" etc - try the following:Note : Phil recommends saving Logbook.bin & GrantedRewards.bin if you don't want to start over on flight time and mission rewards.1. Remove FSX from Add/Remove Programs (this will take a long time just be patient)2. Manually delete the C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFSX folder (don't touch the FS9 one if you have that installed!)Also remove these foldersDocuments and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataMicrosoftFSXDocuments and Settingsyour user nameApplication DataMicrosoftFSX3. I would defrag now.4. Install FSX clean from the DVD.5. Run FSX. *THIS IS IMPORTANT* in my experience - it needs to create the different cfg files and stuff that happen on first run.6. Install the VS 2005 redistributable if you haven't already.7. Install SP1.8. Reboot and defrag.Run the sim and you should see big performance gains on multi-core machines with good video cards. It is also VERY IMPORTANT that you have up to date drivers for everything - chipset, CPU, video, sound, etc. I'll be revising my FSX tweak guide available on our PMDG Ops site soon as many of these tweaks don't apply anymore."And I second that method. Takes a lot of time, but it's worth it. Good luck.Louie.
