May 24, 200719 yr First, I have an AMD 64x2 2.4GHz, 3GB RAM, 8800 GTS 320MB machine. I have ALL of world-of-ai installed and several Ultimate GA and Project AI packages installed as well. My problem is that it takes forever to get past the splash screen at startup. I haven't timed it, but I'll bet it is 2-3 minutes, and the entire time, I can hear my machine working. Is this because of all of the AI packages I have installed, or am I doing something else wrong here? Could this be remedied with a faster processor? As an aside, the game also takes about 1-2 minutes to load, but I have my Scenery Complexity settings turned up all the way with Sparse Autogen and full AI, so I expect this part to be slow, but why so slow to start up?Thanks.
May 24, 200719 yr Hi,I'm using My Traffic AI and it takes a long time to start FSX. My Traffic aircraft are installed in a seperate folder and if I comment out the line SimObjectPaths.6=MyTrafficaircraft i fsx.cfg, FSX startup is a lot faster. Seems that FSX scans all aircraft defintions during the startup. If I disable all add on modules, FSX will start even faster.Ulf B
May 24, 200719 yr Ulf is onto something. What you might try, is setting up all of your AI aircraft in a separate folder from your flyable aircraft.SimObjects.6=AI Aircraft in your FSX.CFG next to your other SimObjects definitions.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
May 24, 200719 yr Rhett,The disadvantage is that I have no AI aircraft in FSX if I comment out the line. But sometimes, when testing sceneries and such, I prefer the fast load of FSX.Ulf B
