May 24, 200719 yr Getting into the copters now. Anyone can provide some tips on how to land them? I always miss the intended spots. Thnx in advance.
May 24, 200719 yr Bo,Here's my advice: Don't try to hit the spot.I know that sounds counterintuitive, but hear me out. What I do when I'm landing is I pick a spot about 10-15 feet in front of where I'm eventually going to put the helicopter. Then, I aim for that spot in my descent. The goal is to establish a ground hover over that spot 10-15 feet in front of where I'm going to set down. So, I'm not trying to hit the ground yet. I'm trying to be about 5 feet above the ground, seeing my rotor wash dust, and not moving forward very fast if at all. Then, I dip the nose down juuuuust a tweak ... just barely getting the helicopter moving. It doesn't take much. As the chopper moves over exactly where I want to set down, I tip the nose up just a bit to stop my forward motion, then ease the collective down and set here into that spot.Try that method and see if it doesn't work out for you.Remember, you're flying a $1.5 million aircraft. Your goal is to protect it, your passengers, and your own safety. Your goal is not to star in a Hollywood action movie (those landings come later!)Also, here's a good resource for you:www.hovercontrol.com
May 24, 200719 yr I have found that there is something about Track IR V4 that makes landing choppers a *lot* easier. Pricey, but once you get used to it, you won't want to be without it.Best Regards, Donny:-waveFLYing? It's cool. Trillions of birds and insects can't be wrong.
May 24, 200719 yr try getting hold of the Just Flight Schweizer http://www.justflight.com/product.asp?pid=169the Jetranger is not a trainer chopper and FSX eggbeaters are harder to fly than the real thing on top of that.Best and Warm RegardsAdrian Wainer
May 24, 200719 yr Practice practice practice. Took me a good 10-20 hours to put them down where i want to. I practiced landing on the 2 buildings in the portland scenery in fs9 with the dodo and the justflight schweizer. Choppers in fsx are a joke to fly and land. Way too easy. If you think they are hard in fsx then try them in fs9 where they feel much more realistic.________________________________________________________________________________________________Intel D975XBX2 'Bad Axe 2' | Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.20Ghz | 2 GB Super Talent DDR2 800 | Big Typhoon VX | eVGA 8800GTS @ 565/900 | Seagate 2x320GB SATA RAID-0 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Creative X-Fi | Silverstone TJ-09BW | Matrox Triplehead Setup

May 24, 200719 yr "eggbeates"? Is that the R22 you are refering to?I have getton the Flying Club X yet. However, with default FSX, I can handle the R22 better. It looks like I am going to get the Flying Club X tomorrow.
May 25, 200719 yr The finest tip for Hovering and landing a Helicopter is to obtain a cheap joystick, place it on the floor between your knees, attach a light rod to the joystick and the extra movement and control you will obtain will have to be done to believe. The small movements in the stick are much easier. ;-) Have fun.
