Folder structure in the main P3D folder

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I did a clean reinstall of p3d v.4 and I noticed a clip in my installation when I manually located where I wanted to place my main folder as opposed to having it in my C-drive.

I currently have it in D/Lockheed Martin/ as the main folder as opposed to D/Lockeed Martin/Prepar3D v4 as it usually is. Could that be the cause for some of the strange errors I get? And if so, how can I change the folder location correctly without having to reinstall everything (my addons) again?

In my appdata/roaming, etc folders it is located as .../Lockheed Martin/Prepar3D v4

Are you saying that your sim files are in D:\Lockheed Martin without there being a seperate folder for Prepar3D v4? If so then yeah I imagine that's not an optimal config at all. Most likely reinstalling is the best option if you want to avoid any complications. It's a pain but the most likely to have everything work properly. With addons that install externally from P3D, you may well get away with not reinstalling them, but adding them back on to P3D after you've reinstalled, stuff installed directly into the main folder will need reinstalling most likely.

However, you may be able to fix it by moving your P3D files into the correct folder, then correcting the install location via the registry.

If you go into Regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Lockheed Martin \ Prepar3d v4, there should be a setting called 'AppPath', set that to the correct folder (i.e. D:\ Lockheed Martin\ Prepar3D v4) and there is a chance that'll solve your current problems.

Hope this helps
