Missing towers?

Featured Replies

Maybe it's my tired eyes but I'm not seeing Air Traffic Control Towers in many airports at which I land, even large airports such as KSFO. Lots of other buildings, but no tower. (Obviously I'm referring to airports which, in the real world, actually have towers).I'm using 3rd party landclass (Ultimate Terrain X) but I don't think this would be a factor.I recall prior versions of FS did depict the ATCTs so what am I missing here?

OK, I set my scenery complexity from "very dense" (the second highest level) to "extremely dense" (the highest level). I checked KSFO, KSJC and KLGA, all major US airports that have control towers, and I saw nothing that even remotely resembled an Air Traffic Control Tower, in the sim.If someone can post a screenshot of a tower at any one of these airports, then I'll know something is wrong with my setup.Bob

Thanks for posting the screenshot.Well, I just checked my version of FSX and at KSFO I'm seeing the circular building but I'm not seeing the parts that extend outward from the building, i.e. the tower and the jetways. And I have my scenery complexity level set to "Extremely Dense".I wonder if any of my add-ons are the problem. I'm using Ultimate Terrain X and I'm also using Traffic 2005 from Just Flight, which adds AI aircrart to the sim.Further investigation is warranted.

OK, I found the problem. As stated above, I have the add-on Traffic 2005 by Just Flight, which installs real world AI Traffic into the sim (United Airlines, Air Canada etc.) Overall a pretty good add-on, IMO.Checking the Scenery Library I saw an entry, "Traffic 2005 Airport Facilities" So I unchecked this, and now Towers and Jetways are back.So no question that this was the problem. Now the question is what, if anything, will I be missing now that I've turned this feature off? I still have the AI aircraft, so I'll keep this off...until further notice.
