When flying an IFR flight, is there any option in FSX other than getting vectored to final? can I fly a STAR?

Yes, sorta. This was written for FS9 but it works in FSX:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...e=&topic_page=1Short answer: you can always decline the approach it gives you and select another approach. Like instead of it saying you're to turn to 265 and descend to 5000 for ILS runway 18R, you can pick RNAV 18R via XXXX transition and it'll just clear you to XXXX.

That link given is very helpful. Two further points.(1) STARs generally end at a waypoint from which an approach can be made to more than one runway. All UK STARS do that and are not associated with a particular runway.(2) At many major airports 'vectors ro final' is the normal procudure. Using the published Approach Procedures is the exception.

Look at jim vile's post in the link radivil references. The key is that you have to make your flight plan conform to the STAR, which is easy if you have the STAR profile in front of you. It's pretty fun to do I think.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian
