Has anyone else experienced this and if so do you know of a solution?

Yes... Rejoin the beta. Hopefully your settings and profiles will return. Then when you can youre gonna have to back up your files and set up a non default folder installation.

Thank you this actually worked.  It completely uninstalled when I did this but when it came back so did my controller profiles.  Must be syncing to Xbox cloud storage.  For reference for anyone else suffering from this issue I did have a custom Package location and just pointed it back at it again after reinstalation.
