Trouble triggering an MSFS update (or other issues)? Try...

Could we add this to Tips & Tricks please? It comes up so often, yet many have solved their problems with this procedure.

Step 1 - Restart PC. Sometimes that is enough for things to work.

Step 2 - Check MS Store to make sure Gaming Services and Xbox app are up to date.

Step 3 - Start>Settings>Apps & Features>Microsoft Flight Simulator>Advanced Options>Repair

[That is the process for Win11. IIRC the path (or maybe just the appearance on-screen) is slightly different in Win10 but you should find it easy enough]

If that fails...

Step 4 - Download the Win 10 Media Creation Tool or Win 11 Media Creation Tool (depending what OS you are using) by clicking on "Download Tool Now" and follow the instructions the tool gives, making sure to select the option to retain your files and apps. This doesn't wipe Windows or delete anything, it's actually a repair rather than installation tool when used this way. If it works, you should then be able to launch the sim successfully. This step solves many issues with the sim not starting or failing to update.

Thank you for your reply. In fact Gaming service is a coward. When I closed its page to try your fix, FS launched by itself! I had tried this before but it did not work. I guess that your fix is a threat to gaming services 😀.

It is always the same thing with a piece of software, you never know why it works or why it doesn't...
