Switching from screen to headset

Featured Replies

I am complety new to VR and I am bungling with switching from my 2d screen to my HP Reverb G2 and whether or not to transfer control with Windows key + Y.

They never show any of this in all the Youtube videos, but when I Alt-Tab to VR, the screen also shows the “VR mode” and the mouse pointer shows on my screen.

When pressing Win+Y control is transferred to the headset and the MSFS window on the screen minimizes.

This ‘to me’ seems logical; The pc does not have to render the screen picture and you want to control everything in the headset.

Unfortunately however, the mouse only seems to work in VR when the MSFS window is NOT minimized on screen!??!

What is the correct way to go about this please?

I just leave the monitor window open as is.  I suspect the performance gain by minimizing the display window is minimal.

I don't ever press Win Y. If am in MSFS VR and want to go to another desktop app, I am taking the headset off anyway so I either alt tab to what I want or hit the Win key and choose an open app off the task bar. Going back to MSFS I just click on the MSFS icon and MSFS takes back control of the mouse. I never minimise MSFS.

Thanks for the replies.

Seems that the problem was in running MSFS in windowed mode in stead of full screen.
