Efficiency is clearly evidenced by the fact that both hold nearly identical number of people and nearly identical fuel capacities, yet the 787 can fly 2,500 to 3,000 nm further on that fuel. Even the A350 XWB which whas designed as a response to the 787 looks, from what I read, will at best be a match for the 787 five years later... and may not even be that.I wasn't meaning to take anything away from the 787... I was simply surprised that all those carbon fiber parts only shave off 3.8% of the weight.
