Agreed! And the rollout event is tomorrow, 1:30 central time I believe. It will be available on the internet as well as several other venues. Check the link out.Related Question: Are there any informed individuals (pilots or engineers) who can inform us on the advances that are incorporated into the 787 cockpit?Another question: Are any add-on publishers working on providing an FSX version of this new bird? (Excuse me if I am uninformed on this matter.)-Rick

Is that stream and Boeing's website getting hammered? The streaming quality is really bad here and I usually have no complaints against my ISP (roadrunner).....Just wondering.Cheers, can't wait to see her :-)Petehttp://members.aol.com/pzsoulman/myhomepage/logo.gifGIGABYTE Light 3D Galaxy II Liquid CoolingENERMAX Galaxy EGA850EWL ATX 850W Power SupplyNVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel MoboCore 2 Duo E6700 1066MHz FSB 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775CORSAIR XMS2 2GB SDRAM DDR2 800GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI ExpressSBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.12 x Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA Raid01 Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/sWinXP Home SP2CH Yoke/Pedals

So given that they are making so much noise about how the carbon fiber frame will make it lighter, I looked up the stats of the 787 vs the A330.I decided to compare the 787-9 to the A330-200 since seating-wise they are nearly identical. Now, they 787-9 does have a significantly longer range, but since they both have almost identical fuel capacities I think its a fair comparison.A330-200 (seats 253/293)- 263,700 lbs787-9 (seats 250/290) - 254,000 lbs.So the 787 shaves off a whopping 3.8% of the A330's weight? I realize that probably does mean a lot to the efficiency of an aircraft, but I still expected the weight difference to be bigger than that...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_787#Featureshttp://www.airbus.com/en/aircraftfamilies/...ifications.html

how about engine efficiency? also... how's the cabin of the 330? anywhere near as cool as the 787? How about the Cockpit? I must say, the 787 tops the 330 by alot IMHO...

Efficiency is clearly evidenced by the fact that both hold nearly identical number of people and nearly identical fuel capacities, yet the 787 can fly 2,500 to 3,000 nm further on that fuel. Even the A350 XWB which whas designed as a response to the 787 looks, from what I read, will at best be a match for the 787 five years later... and may not even be that.I wasn't meaning to take anything away from the 787... I was simply surprised that all those carbon fiber parts only shave off 3.8% of the weight.
