Configuration database error

Featured Replies

Everytime I open AAO I'm getting a message that reads "Error when loading the configuration database:There is an error in XML document (0, 0). If you continue, all previous data will be lost". So now its not running any scripts and I can't import anything.  I get a further message saying "import failed. Configuration system failed to initialize". Anybody got any ideas as Im compleyely stumped. I've tried uninstalling it and re-installing but with no joy.

Sounds like the configuration file is either broken, or you have that weird Windows problem where it refuses to read certain files (that is the "failed to initialize" message, that one is actually coming from the operating system itself.)

First, make a backup copy of the AAO config folder:
\AppData\Local\LORBY_SI\LorbyAxisAndOhs* (the * is a place holder for the simulator name, AAO has different folders for different sims here)

Then delete the App config folder:
\AppData\Local\LWR

and try again. If you get the same XML error with (0,0), one of the AAO config files may be broken. Check the AAO database first:

\AppData\Local\LORBY_SI\LorbyAxisAndOhs_MSFS\ConfigDatabase_MSFS.xml
(or _P3D.. etc. depending on sim)

If that is only 0 bytes in size, check if there is a backup file (there should be 6) that has a proper size and rename that.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I've tried everything you suggested with no luck. When I try and open the ConfigDatabase_MSFS.xml file nothing happens, its size is showing as 433kb. If I open ConfigDatabase_MSFS_1,2,3,4,5,6.xml files they open no problem.  They all make reference to the Fenix A320. It was working perfectly up to this point so any more help would be appreciated.

Not sure. Sounds weird. The general idea of the multiple generations is to discard the broken file and rename one of the _1, _2 etc. backups to "ConfigDatabase_MSFS.xml" - that is what they are there for. Keep the broken file and send it to the support email address (last page of the AAO manual) with your proof of purchase, then I will take a look at it.

But the second error message that you posted above is coming from Windows, so I don't really know what the problem is supposed to be.
