October 27, 20223 yr Has anyone here used OpenTrack head tracking software with FS9? I started to set it up and was very excited about the initial results, but now it doesn't seem to be connecting up with FS9. So I'm using SmoothTrack on my iphone as the camera head tracker, OpenTack on the FS computer and FS9. The initial setup went very quick and easy to install and configure and I was seeing amazing results in the virtual cockpit. I then started to setup the curves for all 6 head movement rotations and axis (yaw, pitch, roll, x, y, z). Everything was going well until I got to the last one, the x-axis. I noticed that as I was trying to setup the curve for it there was no response in the x-axis in the virtual cockpit of FS9. SmoothTrack and OpenTrack were both showing movement in the x-axis as I was moving my head in the x-axis, but I did not see any corresponding movement in FS9. I then disabled all the rotations and axis other than X in Opentrack to isolate X. The result was no movement at all in FS9 while OpenTrack was reporting both input and output in the x-axis. The next thing I tried was to reboot everything, hoping that would fix things. After rebooting everything, I get no movement of any king now in FS9. Now nothing is working. Hoping that someone with experience can help me out. I'm thinking of uninstall OpenTrack and starting over if nothing else.
October 28, 20223 yr Author An update. By running OpenTrack and FS9 in administrator mode, OpenTrack is now again controlling the viewpoint in FS9. But still a no go on the x-axis.
October 28, 20223 yr I remember back to Freetrack days, it works with FS9 via “TrackIR interface" but the connection is very fragile you can only connected it once and if you losed it you'll have to restart both game and FT, or switch to FSUIPC connection which only provide pitch/yaw and zoom 3 axis. Not sure if OpenTrack still have the TIR interface, I'm on TIR5 now.
October 28, 20223 yr Author Opentrack has outputs for “Freetrack 2.0 Enhanced”, “FSUIPC — FS2002/2004”, and “Microsoft FSX SimConnect” amongst some other outputs. I selected the FSUIPC 2002/2004 output option. I’m getting more the 3 DOF. I suspect that there is something in my FS2004 settings or FSUIPC settings that is interfering or conflicting with the x-axis signal coming in from Opentrack. But I’m at a loss of what that could be?
