December 22, 20223 yr Just a note of interest about controlling the Cowl Flaps on the MSFS DC-3. in the Controls section of the setup for MSFS, I have dedicated one of the double action toggle switches on my CH Products Throttle Quadrant to the Cowl Flaps. It works for all aircraft. Up for open incrementally, down for close incrementally. However, flying in the DC-3, I noticed when in outside view that the cowl flaps seemed to be in the trail position even though I had toggled them to be in the closed position. I hit the switch again and they moved to the closed position, but when I took my finger off the switch and it returned to its spring-loaded center position, the cowl flaps returned to the trail position. I tried opening them and the same thing happened. I checked the position of the controls inside the cockpit, and they were both in the trail position. I changed them to the OFF position and checked outside again using the dedicated switch on the throttle quadrant and they worked properly. Seems the in cockpit manual controls override a dedicated switch on my throttle quadrant. So now I just keep the inside controls to off and use the switch on the throttle quadrant. If you need to control just one engine you have to use the manual control for that engine in the cockpit. The other engine can still be controlled with the dedicated switch on the throttle quadrant.
