January 19, 20233 yr I love this plane in 2D. It's all I want to fly these days. I use the N5AM livery with GNS 530. I recently got a Meta Quest 2 and I'd say, controller-wise, we're about 80% of the way there but there are some fatal flaws (as I see them): I tried programming in a Direct To on the flight plan and found I couldn't activate or control the knobs. There is an overhead "roller knob" (is that what they are called?) to control the brightness of the flood lights. These work perfectly! But a similar knob to control vertical speed for the autopilot barely works. I can occasionally get it to increase, but I can never get it to decrease. You can imagine what this did to my flight... Some stock planes (not all) let you put the controllers in grip mode and control the yoke with the movement of your hands (while holding the controllers in grip mode). If I try this with the C414AW the yoke starts violently shifting back and forth. My only option is to use the left thumb stick for yoke control. I'd say, overall, all the knobs, levers, switches, etc., need a once-over. For example, I can usually reach the right fuel tank and switch it to main with little issue. Doing this on the left tank takes about 20 tries. The avionics switch flips right away; but the fuel pump switch takes about 5 tries until I land it where I want it. Are there any other MQ2 owners out there who have these problems in the C414AW and overcame them?
January 19, 20233 yr The Quest 2 controllers are only sometimes useful in MSFS. Most of the time, I use the mouse instead. Others use a track ball, which acts like a stationary mouse (you always know where to find it, even with the headset on). The C414 is a great plane, but I must admit I never use it for VR flights. The reason is that the switch labels are very small, I have to lean very far forward to be able to read them with the Quest 2. That problem does not exist for me in most other planes. Peter
