Quick tick for XP12 - geographic accuracy

Featured Replies

Make this short but another thing that has impressed me is geographic accuracy in XP12, For years FSX and P3D (which carried over that type of error) had somehow managed to lose islands and some coastal areas with inaccurate data. ORBX Global and Vector sort of fixed it but not quite, In particular one place missing really annoyed me in previous sims because I wanted to create scenery at the place to recreate the old seaplane bases and town that used to be on this island, The island was called Samarai which is just off the coast of what is now Alatou or the Airfield at Gurney. A signficant island because it was basically the defacto capital when the Germans had PNG and then up until WW2 when alas most of the charming colonial buildings were destroyed by the US Army to prevent the island being used by Japan in WW2. It had regular airservices for a long time using Sandringhams, Catalinas and Otters (Qantas) but alas all long gone now. This is what I hoped to do:

Samarai as it is/was:

And the aeroplane of interest at Samarai long time ago:

So went hunting and sure enough there was the island in XP12 complete with some roads no buildings but does not matter at the moment at least they have the island where it should be and as it is! So for the first time in simming at last the Island of Samarai is there and where it should be! Now how to get rid of those ugly autogenerated roads! before doing a bit more with it, Soon as somebody gets the Otters upgraded to XP12 we are off!
