Disconnect after fast forward

Recommended Posts

Sometimes on longer flights I like to fast-forward either using the sim (fs2020) of VFRmap. When doing so it seems my pilot2atc no longer responds. As in I cannot grab a nearby frequency and do radio check or anything, I get no response. I even tried to reload the flight plan and get IFR clearance but I get nothing. Am I missing something? Sometimes I just do not have time to do a 4-5 hour flight and simply want to cut out the max alt travel.

If you speed up the SIM rate, P2A will do all the calls, just with less time in between.  You should slow down before you get to the TOD or first STAR waypoint.  Usually, you'll be OK if you slow down as soon as you get, or before you get, the arrival information call.

If you want to just skip to somewhere in the flight plan, then you should Disconnect P2A,  make the move, then reconnect and use the reconnect procedure:

1.    Be sure the same flight plan as is loaded as was initially filed.
2.    Connect to SIM
3.    File the flight plan
4.    Make initial call to ATC.  Usually this would be “<CallSign> at flight level xxx” or something similar
5.    ATC will give you a squawk code and all should proceed normally after that.

Be sure that you don't jump to a point past the Arrival Information call, which is about 4 minutes before TOD.
