Problem with Web FIPs

Featured Replies

After installing the latest version 3.00 b53 MSFS, I might have found a bug.

When I click on Gauges > Web FIPs, with no other items ticked in the Gauges menu, the Display Web Instruments panel opens but it is displaying my two Desktop FIPs in the list and that is what appears on my tablet that I am using for viewing the web FIP that I have.
When I hover over the '+' button it shows 'Add new desktop FIP' !

If I delete these two Desktop FIP entries and add my Web FIP entry (Lorby Status Panel HiRes) it will appear on my tablet, without the two Desktop FIP entries.

Will you check this behaviour please?

Did you create and assign a layout? Layouts are the means to get the gauges that you want for every aircraft that you fly. Otherwise the behavior of the dialog is more or less left to chance.

1. Load your gauge and align it on the dialog, remove others that you don't want.
2. Click on Layout, create a Layout on the following dialog, and then, while you are sitting in the cockpit, load the layout again. From now on the layout is linked to your aircraft and it will always load.
(3. Desktop and Web FIPs are actually the same thing. The gauge assets can be displayed both ways)

No, I created my Desktop and Web FIPs in 2020 and had not needed to look at their creation until today. I don't remember having to create a layout at that time. I came across the issue today when I was investigating using the Web FIP in the 'In Game Panel'.

I will try your suggestion.

Is this just a cosmetic problem and it should say 'Add new Web FIP ' ?

Desktop and Web FIPs are one and the same. So cosmetic only. I will put that on the list for the next version.

You don't have to, but if you ever change the gauges, you get stuck. That is why the Layouts are there. When you load a Layout from the dialog while sitting in the cockpit, then this layout will be bound to that plane automatically. As with everything in AAO, the whole feature was supposed to be aircraft specific, and using the Layouts seemed like a logical implementation.

And the Layouts are also "cross-feature", they are applicable both for web and desktop FIP logic . You can create a Layout with the Desktop FIPs and then load it as a Web Layout. That way you can arrange the gauges on your desktop as you wish to see them on your mobile device.

OK, thanks for that clarification.

Come to think of it, this feels kind of inconvenient. I will look into adding some form of "default layout" that is automatically assigned to aircraft that don't have a specific layout associated with them. That should work better than this semi-automatic default that is there now.
