What is the status of VR current?

Featured Replies

Coming from XP11, was a really good experience for me with the Q2.

what is the current status of VR in 12 ? I'm not expecting sliders to the right, but I do want this smooth flying as it is in 11.

is performance acceptable? I'm on the fence now, and need some info. looks like there are not so many VR users here lately ?

I7 8700 RTX3080 FE

do you already have XP12, otherwise why not try the free demo.

yes, it is acceptable if you adjust/reduce some graphics and rendering settings. But I get less fps than in MSFS, only around 25 with HP G2 in the countryside or smaller airports, but feels still surprisingly smooth if you don't move your head abruptly. my RTX 4090 shows 96%  load in VR, again way too high compared to MSFS (70%). this tells me even a CPU upgrade to the new 7800X3D may not help much.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

@turbomax

the fact that it overwhelm your GPU not bringing some good news here, its way stronger then mine.

with MFS i had it good, until SU12 that killed LOD totally.

do i need to get the demo from the official website? how does that work with SteamVR?

do you still uses the OVR tool? i remember it give a really good boost to XP11.

1) that's what I did, but might be available on Steam as well.

2) just fine

3) not familiar with that and not using it.

your resolution is slightly lower, that may help somewhat:

quest 2:

1832 x 1920 pixels per eye

HP G2:

2160 x 2160 pixels per eye

have to correct myself 😀  the good news is that my fps were actually 45 in the air, and 30 - 35 on the ground (similar to what I am seeing at the same location CYQQ in MSFS) , using these graphics settings (i9900K @ 4.7 GHz, RTX 4090)

the not so good news is: if I look straight up and see nothing but the empty cockpit ceiling with no switches etc. fps stay the same 30 fps or even slightly lower. that doesn't sound like optimal 3D scenery/objects drawing routines?
