Set MSFS World Map Zoom Level?

When you initially open the World Map, what determines the zoom setting?  I'd like to change the initial zoom level but have not found how to do that yet. In the lower left of the screen, the "WORLD MAP ZOOM OUT/WORLD MAP ZOOM IN clickspot does not seem to do anything, but the NM____- + on the lower right does change the zoom level, as does the mouse wheel, but not permanently. Is there a setting in a cfg or ini file somwhere that sets the initial zoom level?
