Help wanted for freeware Mirage IV

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, normally I like to try to figure out things for myself but I'm stumped at one freeware airplane. It's a Mirage IV at

It's a redirect from the main website at http://www.mirage4fs.com/panels_all.html#miv_pan

There are two separate download files and I've unzipped both of them. I unzip all the files to the FS2004 folder and the plane appears in the selection list when I load, but they're all textureless. No texture at all, just the light gray shade used in  the base model. I'm no expert on programming but I can get the "gist" of ini files by trial and error. I can't figure out what's wrong here though.

I've installed probably hundreds of freeware airplanes over the years without hassle. Occasionally the airplane doesn't load correctly but I usually just forget about it. But the Mirage IV is a very underrated airplane IMO, and this add on is pretty detailed and a lot of work must have went into it.

cel70,

I downloaded your Mirage IV, unzipped it and took a good look at it but did not (try to) actually install it. However, when I try to go to your second quoted site I get warnings about it being "unsafe", so I did not go any further in that direction.

In the download itself ony a single texture (fltsim.0) file is supplied but without a name, while the aircraft.cfg file specifies 6 more named textures but which are all missing.

Therefore, the only thing I can suggest to you is that you give the single supplied texture file a name and then specify that name in the first (fltsim.0) part of the aircraft.cfg file and then delete the rest (fltsim.1 - fltsim.6).

Good luck and regards.

Hans

Okay I followed your advice and I seem to get a working texture. It's disappointing that  the originally released airplane needed some extra work to get proper textures, but it's such a good freeware file it was worth it. Such a great plane, it's as charismatic as the Vulcan to me. The same sort of mix of a bomber that looks and flies like a fighter

Hi, just seen your topic. Have you tried MAIW site? They have loads of FS9 freeware war planes. They might just have that Mirage with quite a few textures. Just a thought.
