Fix Windows errors. Without reinstalling Windows.

Featured Replies

The references below told me how. I had some windows errors. This fixed it.

In windows search type: CMD

Right click on it and chose run as administrator.

The following three CMDs should be run in order. First check. Then scan. Then restore.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

A very common problem is when running the 3rd CMD (RestoreHealth) it never finishes and gets stuck somewhere short of 100%. If that happens (it did to me) leave that black CMD window open and running, but open a second CMD window (as administrator).

And run this:

sfc /scannow

If it finds errors, then it will try to fix them (corrupted files). You can run this command again until it shows no errors.

Now close both CMD windows (it should not hurt that an action is stuck and not finished, you can still close these CMD windows according to the references below).

Restart Windows

Run this again:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

It should now finish and not get stuck, hopefully.

If it still is stuck then you may have to reinstall windows.

I had problems. The 3rd CMD got stuck at 62.3% (a common percentage it gets stuck at). So I ran sfc /scannow in a new CMD window. All my problems in Windows 11 went away! And I did not have to reinstall Windows.
