I have the paid version and I don't think I would want to use P3D without it because it offers so much. With FSUIPC I can get my uber expensive Honeycomb Alpha yoke to closely match the virtual yoke movements in the aircraft VC's so airplanes feel much more realistic. Without FSUIPC this is impossible. It also helps with a lot of other hardware work better in P3D too.
