This is a story of sadness, desperation and eventual salvation---the best kind of story.

Yesterday I awoke with the burning desire to fly the Comanche and F28. It was imperative that this happen. But, MSFS was suddenly running terrible: I was seeing 9 FPS no matter what aircraft or location. I tried all the things---rolling back to previous drivers, clearing caches and so on. I spent most of the day trying everything I could. No difference and no improvements. I tested with another title (Aliens: Dark Decent) and it too was a lagging pile. Hum. A clue.

So, after a good nights sleep I awoke with the idea to check Precision X1 (the EVGA software that 'helps' with the graphics cards they used to sell.) And, what do you know? The Target slider for Power was all the way to the left. Meaning my card was completely throttled. I moved this slider back to the 100% setting and all is back to normal.

Now, why am I boring you with this story? In case this happens to somebody else sometime.

I didn't change the slider. Nobody besides me uses this computer. I haven't un-minimized X1 in months. It has never caused problems before. I do get a nag periodically reminding me there's a new version of X1. I have no idea how this happed. For a time, I thought I'd finally lost my marbles and was fit for the funny farm.
