After downloading the lorbysi.aao.streamdeckplugin_26_01.zip and then unzipped the program the plugin does not open properly. I cannot install the plugin. any help would be grateful.

What does "the plugin does not open properly" mean exactly? What should be "opening" where and how?

Did you pull the file "com.lorbysi.aao.streamDeckPlugin" out of the zip onto your desktop? It should show up there with the StreamDeck Plugin symbol (white electrical plug on a blue rectangle)  and if it does, then you can doubleclick it, to install it into the Elgato software. If it has any other symbol, then Windows does not see it as a StreamDeck file and doublclicking it will not work.
