PSA: Dev Mode cannot display fps if using frame regeneration

Featured Replies

It will display but the fps will be wildly incorrect if you have Frame Generation turned on. Use the Steam display, or Microsoft store fps meter, or MS Gamebar, or AfterBurner/RivaTuner. etc/ Those all display correct fps with FG in use.

Dev mode display is correct unless you turn on frame generation. Then it reads out a nice number, but is wildly incorrect (it reads almost twice low of the real number).

Rule of thumb: A 4000 series card will double your fps minus 10 percent when you click MSFS setting Frame Generation to on. If you are seeing 50 fps with it off. Turning FG on will give you somewhere around 90 fps (doubled 50 minus 10 percent).

You do NOT have to have DLSS on if using a 4000 card to use FG. FG works fine with TAA (4000 series card).

All in all, I would never buy an AMD card or buy a Nvidia card of less than 4000 series. They don't have FG!

Next month or so AMD trots out it's competitor (so I hear). It may be as good or better than Nvidia FG...

If FG is greyed out with a 4000 series Nvidia card: 1 Turn on HAGS in Windows setting (reboot Windows). 2 Turn on DX 12 in MSFS settings (reboot MSFS). Otherwise FG is not available and the option is greyed out.
