October 24, 20232 yr I raised the issue of weather display in LNM at X-Plane.org. And I didn't get a satisfactory response. When we open LNM with a simulator on we see weather signs. Those small circles are varying from green to red. It was my assumption that LNM fetches flightsim data and displays signs that mean bad or good weather, in a broad sense. It looks however that some regions are correctly represented (USA, Scandinavia, Germany, Great Britain) while some airports' signs are simply irrelevant. Could you guys share your opinions regarding the weather display issue? Thank you.
October 24, 20232 yr LNM reads the X-Plane METAR data from files and shows the weather at airports with the meteorological standard symbols. See here in the LNM user manual for the legend: https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/latest/en/LEGEND.html#airport-weather If the weather symbols are irrelevant you have the wrong settings or the weather files are simply outdated. Make sure to select the XP12/XP11 scenery library in the LNM menu since this also determines where the weather is taken from. Check if simulator weather is enabled and not NOAA or other. Also LNM weather display does not work with custom weather in the sim. Furthermore, check the weather paths in options are clear to use the default locations. If all else fails post a screenshot of your settings including the wrong weather report and METAR. As Alex wrote, LNM shows what user set as a weather source in options. I'm XP11 (and recently also trying a little to use beta XP12) user under Linux, using NOAA weather plugin and flying online (and sometimes offline). As mainly flying online (~5000 hrs) I have to set separate airport weather source (online) - as the online air traffic controllers use the online network weather source. For enroute winds I have to set separate weather source because I use dedicated NOAA weather injection plugin. Until this moment everything works fine and have no problems with LNM if we say about weather displaying on my side. IMHO LNM is very stable and reliable, only needs proper configuration for the given user requirements 🙂 2 hours ago, pylon101 said: It looks however that some regions are correctly represented (USA, Scandinavia, Germany, Great Britain) while some airports' signs are simply irrelevant. There can be many reasons when the "real weather" isn't relevant to simulator weather. Even online VATSIM (or IVAO) weather isn't accurate every time. LNM is able to display only what it gets from weather source, but nothing more.
