Key assignments get screwed up

I've finally determined what's happening but I don't know why. Using Acceleration with XP, running the carrier tutorial mission - USe shift U, I and space to launch from carrier. Hit gear up switch on CH yoke - nothing. Press G on keyboard - nothing. Click gear lever in cockpit - nothing. Press shift U - gear comes up!!! After that, the gear switch works.This ONLY happens with the F/A-18 and only in the carrier missions.I've rebuilt my standard.xml so I "know" the assoignments are right.
