NAV button on Honeycomb Bravo Throttle unit

I'm using this unit with X Plane 11.  I'm fairly new to all this so take my assertions with a pinch of salt. To the best of my knowledge I am using the default setting to fly the CESSNA 172 with the G530 GPS. Various videos suggest pressing the NAV button twice to activate GPS mode but this does not work for me and I have to use my mouse instead.  Pressing NAV twice on the screen works. As far as I can tell everything else runs as expected.
