"Reducing" functions of MCE

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I just wondered if there is a chance to "reduce" the features of MCE individually...

I like the plugin, but for me I really only use the checklists pretty much.

Even after much calibrating I too often seem to get different commands done by the FO than requested. Maybe it's just me talking lazy, but anyway I'd like to get rid of it.

So if there is a tweak to only enable checklists and specifically generated flows, and nothing else, I would be happy.

But I guess this kind of downgrading isn't something that will be provided...?

edit: alternatively starting a flow by an action (like disarm speedbrakes = after landing flow) would help me too

By design, MCE is modular. You can use some or all the features as you please.

Option 1: Disable all features in "General" tab of the UI except for the checklist.

Option 2: Be aware, you can enable the Numlock key as a hard mute.

In "General" tab, click <More options>

Then enable option <Numlock mutes reco>.

From then on, when you don't need interation with the crew, just toggle the key ON. Toggle it back OFF to issue commands to any crew member.

If you have a joystick, you can even assign a button to act as a toggle for Numlock.

In "Advanced options" panel, click <Mute with joy> button and you can assign the button of your choice.
