b747FMC

Recommended Posts

Mark, I've moved off Salty 747 and onto the Asobo 747. I've updated to 3.6 and also updated all the files (community and webserver). The FMC connects ok and the buttons send to the Sim perfectly (I use the FMC remotely and watch the FMC on the Sim change pretty much immediately. The issue is that the updated screen data returning to the remote FMC screen, often fails. I do get the screen initially, but the updates are slow and inconsistent / fail to appear. This is the case on a tablet / a remote PC, and on the Display Webpages browser rendered FMC on the SIM Computer. All three of those cases, send perfectly to the SIM and occasionally the screen updates do come through, albeit slow!? I was so perplexed, that I carefully uninstalled / deleted everything (including all residual files, webserver files  and app data), and then reinstalled all from new files off your website - alas still no go. Any thoughts?

Sorry, no idea. Working normally here, I am looking at it right now.

Sounds a bit like two modules fightig each other. Make sure that you have the latest package for the default 747 (it is different from the Salty) and that there is no other packages left over from earlier releases (those had a different name, the new ones are all called "zzz-lorbysi-...").

Any mods on the 747?

Nope, no mods. I did spot interesting behavior however. I loaded a full flight plan and sat just pressing the 'next page' button on the tablet (with the sim FMC visible on the sim PC screen). The sim FMC changed page properly as did the tablet (albeit with a 1.5 second delay). Over and over this worked. Then I also opened the FMC webpage on my laptop, and continued clicking the 'next page' on the tablet. The sim FMC continued to change properly, but the returned FMC screen data was picked up only by one of the two remote FMC's (tablet / laptop). There seemed no pattern as to which one would get the update. I then closed the laptop page, and opened the 'App/Web Panel' and got the exact same behavior. No surprise then, with the same happening with an FMC up on the sim PC browser. With three open, it randomly picks just one to update.

So the tablet is now usable (despite the delay), so long as I have only one instance of an FMC page open. Seems a bit bizarre !?

That is correct, you can only have one instance active a the same time, and there is a noticable delay (in my case a lot less than a second though, more like 250ms). That is how it works and it never was any different.

In order not to stream all the data all the time, the app sets a flag when new data is available, and the web page resets that flag when the data has been received. When you have two web pages doing that, it will go completely haywire, because they both are changing the same flag. So if one of them gets the data or not is completely random.

Ok. I'm good to go then. Thanks for the comments, and for the ridiculously fast responses as ever. 😉
