November 27, 20232 yr I know there is a long discussion about shimmer and broken AA in the overlays in the Microsoft Flightsim forums with VR and I was marginal effected in my opinion so I skipped that discussion in the past but now I'm back again in the VATSIM environment and have to use Vpilot for VATSIM communication. I discovered that the TAA quality is degraded a lot compared to normal offline VR flying. I have to start Mixed Reality first for using my HP Reverb-1 otherwise I can't connect the Sound and Mic function within Vpilot and it seems to me that Vpilot stay's invisible somewhere in the overlay even if I shoot it minimalize to the taskbar. I manage the further communication via VSR Radio app overlay so I don't need to have the Vpilot overlay active on my screen. The VSR Radio overlay is not causing the problem, I checked that so Minimizing the Vpilot app, going out of the VR environment and coming back in to flight with the headset toggle is not helping. Shutting down Vpilot is the only way but hey, then there is no longer Vatsim ATC haha. Is there someone familiar with this problem and have a solution or work around to solve it? Thx in advance...
November 28, 20232 yr Author Update: It seems that it is not the Vpilot app but SU 14 Beta related. With no Vpilot active and closing the headset and enable it again in the same session, creates the same bad picture. I'm using DX12 and go try to replicate the problem in DX11 but DX12 is mandatory for me performance wise, and in the Beta SU 14, it's coming into full swing mode on my 6800XT GPU... Cheers... November 29, 20232 yr Author Update: Test in DX11 done and there is no problem as descript in my above article. Problem is DX12 in Beta SU14. I hope they will resolve soon because for me is the different DX11=27 fps vs DX12=40fps in VR
December 24, 20232 yr Author Last Update: Beta 14 is now the official version and the problem is still there. Instead of my last and above update and test conclusion is the following, The combination DX12 and Vpilot in VR (WMR-HP REVERB G1) is causing the problem. I can start and have running in the background several other programs like FSLT Traffic and VSR without causing any problem. Running Vpilot (latest stable version 3.17) even running in de background. is ruining the VR picture in the headset. No AA and lots of shimming. Cheers...
