Airport Databases

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I have been simming since the very first sim Bruce Artwick's Flight Simulator for the Commodore and Atari. Ever since the newer sims came out with flight planning, ACARs and weather programs, I have noticed generally the databases do not match for airports ICAO. This is more prevalent in out of the way airports I like to fly into in bush country and seaplane base, but also frequently in others. Why is it that sims, weather programs and ACARs can not use the same database? There is a website out there where you can download all the airports in the world and yet it seems they all use their own from somewhere instead (See Open data @ OurAirports"). Apparently, this doesn't bother others as I never see any comments on it in forums. I have a NAVIGRAPH subscription, but it does not help', these databases are still different.

Is there anywhere to get this fixed without having to contact each individual vendor? Thanks for reading
