January 20, 20242 yr Hello, Chris: I had no idea that I was talking to the developer! I really appreciate your offer to help with the checklist but I need help with a problem before I can start to work on the checklist: My sim is upstairs on my desktop but I do my coding downstairs on my laptop. So I need to connect the two. I read the information in the Networked AAO folder and tried to follow it but 2 things came up: 1. Nowhere were instructions to do anything with SimConnect.xml. I copied simconnect.cfg to the laptop but did nothing with the xml file - was I supposed to? 2. I used port 500, both TCP and UDI but you mentioned port 43380. At any rate, AAO simply says "Waiting for SimConnect". You mentioned proof of purchase: Just Flight Order JFL13xxxxxxxxxxxx0D - I wasn't sure you wanted me to mention the entire order number!

On the axisandohs.com website, page "DOWNLOADS", there is a ZIP file with instructions about networked SimConnect (bottom of the page). All this is about setting up remote SimConnect, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the AAO WebAPI (= where the port 43380 would come into play). In general it also has nothing to do with AAO per se, any SimConnect client would be able to run on that remote computer. Did you follow the instructions in the PDF file(s)? I was hoping that they were clear enough. The XML is on the "server", where the sim is - in the simulator's config directory. Do not just overwrite it, it must be edited - assuming that we are talking about MSFS? The CFG goes to the "Client" where you are running AAO. LORBY-SI
January 21, 20242 yr Author Hello: Sorry about the "Chris" - I completely misunderstood something that was said in the Discord! I appreciate you taking the time to help me. About the remote connection. I think I did everything in the instructions except the instruction: "you need it to configure the AAO modules that run inside the sim." As this is the first time I have used AAO, I don't know if I should have done something as a result of this instruction but, if so, I didn't. When I bring up AAO and click the "Connect to Simulator", it responds "Waiting for SimConnect". I don't know how to debug the situation. As an aside, when I click it in the AAO in the sim, it responds with the name of the aircraft. Thanks again.

In general, this "remote connection" has per se nothing whatsoever to do with AAO. The PDF describes how you set up a remote SimConnect instance. When this is done correctly, every SimConnect client (like AAO) can be run on the remote computer and talk to the sim. That is what you need to debug, not AAO or its configuration. The instructions for the SimConnect.XML are in the very first chapter, where it says "On the Server Computer" I'm not sure what instructions you were looking at to be honest. You did download the "networkedaao.zip" from the axisandohs com website, right? And then followed the "Using AxisAndOhs on a remote computer with MSFS.pdf"? January 23, 20242 yr Author All of these problems have been solved - I had a very bad day and screwed up lots of things that day! Today I did better - properly read the instructions, put the files/folders where they were supposed to be and everthing works like a charm. Thank yu for your help!
