Growing Pains

Featured Replies

I know it's just getting started but I am having no luck at all. I am attempting to follow your documentation in the X-Touch Gauge. I am down to section 4.1.4 - the easy stuff. I entered the labels for the rotaries, I saved the file (XTouch_C208B_0.txt) - I only added text to the Macro Layer and the rotary. I wanted to see if it was working so I disconnected and reconnected AAO from the sim and reconnected and ... nothing. Do I have to do something else?

Thanks as always.

P.S. I was told this is the place to get help, not the "Flight Sim and Other Stuff" Discord - is that correct?

Sorry, but I have no idea how that gauge works. You will have to ask the author of that gauge - it is not "mine" = Lorby's in any way, and I do not provide support for it.

Did you test the X-Touch without using the gauge? Is it working at all?

I tested the X-Touch but it wasn't without the gauge - every instruction I've seen, the first thing you do is work with the X-Touch gauge. I was watching the videos but they must have left something out. What should I read? Secondly, how do I totally remove an aircraft and the gauge, everything and start completely over? I'm sorry to bother you with this but I decided to completely go from SPAD to AAO and it's 'teething pains' - I'm sure that once I get going I'll be OK but starting is being rough!

Please forget about the gauge for a moment. It is but an addon to AAO that somebody else made. I have no stakes whatsoever in this. Asking me for supporting the gauge would be like asking Microsoft to support the FBW A320. Know what I mean?

1. Reset the X-Touch to factory default. Pull the USB plug from the device. Hold down the buttons A and B, keep holding them down and plug the cable back in. Keep holding those buttons down until everything stops blinking.

2. Start AAO, double check that the MIDI devices have been enabled in the Hardware menu, connect to the sim, load an aircraft. Load one that you have not used before (!)

3. Now open the Add Button dialog by clicking on the green "+" - when the dialog is open, press a key on the X-Touch hardware. When/if AAO can see the incoming event, you will see the boxes on the dialog change accordingly - and you know that the device is generally working.

Yes, I completely understand, but until just now, I assumed you had written it. No, I don't know the I need the gauge - again, I'm just starting. So, I'm sorry that I keep asking questions about it but that's what everything I seen (several videos, by different folks. But I don't know how to get rid of it!

1. Done, again - and again, no flashing lights of any kind.

2. Sorry for the delay, Microsoft decided it was time for an update! Complete.

3. When I clicked a button, I got an "Add Button Assignment". So, that's good.

But, I've got a plane I don't care to fly - what's next?

Close AAO and delete these folders.

  • C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\LORBY_SI\LorbyAxisAndOhsMSFS
  • C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\LWR
  • C:\Users\...\Documents\LorbyAxisAndOhs Files

This will clear out everything.

When I clicked the Green Button + box, it brought up that Screen. then when I hit a button on the X-Touch, it changed the "Assigned button/key" field to correspond to the button I clicked on the X-Touch.

Layer A and B, the ones that you are holding down, will definitely flash a couple of times. At least that is what Behringer's instructions for the X-Touch say.

OK, so you know that the device is working and you can assign stuff to it. This is not in any way different from assigning joystick buttons in AAO.

And you also know that whatever is going wrong with the X-Touch gauge is in the gauge itself, not in AAO => if you need help, you have to ask Funatic, a simmer like you, who created this addon gauge.

Deleted the files/folders you suggested so now I can start over. I presume your AAO 4.0 manual is what I should follow. It would seem that, as you say, something about the way I'm using the gauge is the problem. So, I will leave the gauge alone for now and just program per your instructions - I can play with the gauge later.

I know you're probably tired of hearing it but I really do appreciate you taking the time and trouble to help me!!
