An Old Foe Rears its Ugly Head

Something that hasn't happened in a long time occurred today, my sim froze while making a flight.  Default scenery, default aircraft.  Was about 75 miles out of LA when suddenly nothing worked anymore. Had to use the task manager to kill the program.

 

Sigh.

I guess that a little rain has fallen in the life of every flight simmer since FS1903. If it happens once in a great while, you're way ahead of the game.

Yeah, this sim is driving me crazy again. I did all the things just short of reinstalling (which does nothing, really) and out of nowhere (after several months of stability) I am having nothing but odd performance stutters/pauses that cause severe input delays.

Yes, I followed several guides, reset a lot of stuff, tried/tweaked, uninstalled most if not all apps/addons....safe mode....shader cache blah blah.
