April 1, 20242 yr Bridge Inspection in Northern Germany We depart from Ganderkesee (EDWQ), a small airfield close to Bremen. We fly north until we reach the River Weser and follow the river to Bremerhaven. We land at Bremerhaven (EDWB). We head north and land at the only remaining German Navy Airbase, Nordholz (ETMN). Nordholz is home to the Naval Air Wing 3, flying P3 Orion and later P8 Poseidon, and the Naval Air Wing 5 flying Sea King, Sea Lynx at MH 90 Helicopter. We continue north, overfly Cuxhaven, and reach the mouth of the River Elbe. We fly upstream for about 15 miles and reach the locks at Brunsbüttel. These locks mark the entrance to the Kiel Canal, the world's most busy canal! We inspect the Brunsbüttel Bridge and land at the small GA-Field St. Michaelisdonn (EDXM). We turn east, cross the Canal, and land Hungriger Wolf (Hungry Wolf, EDHF), a former German Army Helicopter Base. Further northeast we land at the small Glider Field Aukrug (EDIX). It is time to get back to the Canal. Our next bridge is the Railroad Bridge Hochdonn. We follow the Canal and reach the Autobahn Bridge Hohenhörn. Only about 4 miles further, we inspect the Grünental Bridge. It‘s time for a landing, so we stop at the Ultra Light airfield Offenbüttel (ED99). Once more, we head back to the Canal and reach Rendsburg-Schachtholm (EDXR). Now we leave the Canal for a while and head north. We land at Hohn (ETNH), a former German Air Force Base where C-160 Transall aircraft were stationed. Further north we land at Schleswig Air Force Base (ETNS). This Base was previously home to the German Naval Air Wing 1. We overfly the city of Schleswig and turn south to land at the GA field Kropp (EDXC). We turn back to the Canal and inspect the Rader Highbridge. Further east, we have two more bridges to check, first the Levensau Bridge and shortly after that the Holtenau Bridges. We make a sightseeing flight over Kiel and the Kiel Fjord before we end this flight at Kiel-Holtenau (EDHK). The airport was a combined military/civil airport until the Naval Air Wing 5 moved to Nordholz. Aircraft: The flight has 192 miles and 9 landings. It is designed for Helicopters, but using a small GA plane like the Piper Cub or the Husky is also possible. I will probably be in the HPG H145. Please fly what you like. Documentation: The flight plans are available here. Additional scenery: We made a similar flight some time ago. Meanwhile, all bridges have been updated. There is an add-on for Rendsburg, but it is not compatible with the Kiel Canal Ships and Buildings add-on. Not included in the package are the recommended Lower Elbe Ships (MSFS - GAIST Unterelbe Schiffsrouten - SimDocks Forum) for use with Hendrik Nielsons GAIST package. https://flightsim.to/file/4544/edwq-flugplatz-ganderkesee-atlas-airfield by northguy https://flightsim.to/file/66875/schleswig-jagel-airbase-etns by turtletank1997 https://flightsim.to/file/42023/scenery-kiel-kiel-canal-ships-and-additions-1-0-by-kielfjord by kielfjord https://flightsim.to/file/20199/aukrug-segelfluggelnde by fux911 https://flightsim.to/file/20186/kropp-edxc by fux911 https://flightsim.to/file/7625/hohn-airbase by GOLFSIERRA https://flightsim.to/file/3517/etmn-nordholz-germany by ape42 https://flightsim.to/file/1920/edhk-kiel-holtenau by MrMo https://flightsim.to/file/36262/hochdonn-bridge-kiel-canal by michelvp https://flightsim.to/file/37633/hohenhorn-bridge-kiel-canal by michelvp https://flightsim.to/file/37894/rader-bridge-kiel-canal by michelvp https://flightsim.to/file/35508/rendsburg-high-bridge by michelvp https://flightsim.to/file/36039/grunentaler-bridge-kiel-canal by michelvp by michelvp The complete package is available here.
