June 24, 20241 yr We visit the Province of Palawan, an archipelagic province of the Philippines. It is the largest province in the country in terms of total area of 14,649.73 km2 (5,656.29 sq mi). The capital and largest city is Puerto Princesa. Palawan is known as the Philippines' Last Frontier and as the Philippines' Best Island. We depart from Rio Tuba Airport (RPRI). We overfly the Rio Tuba mine, a large nickel mine run by Nickel Asia Corporation. Rio Tuba represents one of the largest nickel reserves in the Philippines having an estimated reserve of 60.2 million tonnes (59,200,000 long tons; 66,400,000 short tons) of ore grading 1.27% nickel. The 60.2 million tonnes of ore contains 764,000 tonnes tonnes of nickel metal. Production started in 1969. We head towards the west coast of the island and land at Tagbita (RPTI) and Tarumpitao Point (RPTP). On the way, we can see Mount Mantalingahan to the east. It is the highest mountain of the Beaufort Mountains, with an elevation of 6,844 ft (2,086 m) above sea level. Our next stop is Puerto Princesa (RPVP). According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 307,079 people. Though the seat of government and capital for the province, the city itself is one of 38 independent cities within the Philippines not controlled by the province in which it is geographically located and is therefore an independent area located within Palawan. It is the least densely populated city in the Philippines with 110 inhabitants per square kilometer (280 inhabitants/sq mi). In terms of land area, the city is the second largest geographically after Davao City with an area of 2,381.02 square kilometers (919.32 sq mi). Puerto Princesa is the location of the Philippines' Western Command headquarters. Today, Puerto Princesa is a tourist city with many beach resorts and seafood restaurants. It has been acclaimed several times as the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines. We head north and reach San Vicente (RPSV). Its 14.7 kilometers (9.1 mi) of beachfront, popularly called the Long Beach, is being converted into an emerging tourist destination that will be the beneficiary of government spending on infrastructure. Long Beach has two rocky cliffs interrupting the continuous expanse of approximately 14.7 kilometers of sugary white sand beach dividing it into three coves. It is the longest white sand beach in the Philippines and is the First Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zone of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA). Long Beach spans the coastline of four barangays namely Poblacion, New Agutaya, San Isidro, and Alimanguan. Further north we overfly Cadlao Island and some of the famous beaches to finish the flight at El Nido (RPEN). The town is known for its white-sand beaches, coral reefs, and limestone cliffs, as well as for being the gateway to the Bacuit archipelago. The flight plans are available here. Please note, that most airports are not in the GTN database. Therefore, the GTN flight plan departs from WBKT and finishes RPLO! The flight has 220 miles and 4 landings. I will be in the PC-12, please fly what you like. We have 4 additional sceneries available: https://flightsim.to/file/14507/rio-tuba-rpri https://flightsim.to/file/14259/puerto-princesa-international-airport-rpvp https://flightsim.to/file/21381/san-vicente-airport-rpsv https://flightsim.to/file/56711/lio-airport-el-nido We try real weather.
