Running a networked setup and database updates

Featured Replies

Hello,

Is it necessary to reload the scenery database every time I install new scenery? For example, Do I need to copy the database files via USB to the remote littlenavmap install every time new scenery is installed? or will this automatically be shared over the remote connection?

No. Updating the database is up to you. If you install an add-on airport and do not reload the database you will see the layout of the stock airport in LNM for example. You can still use the database for planning.

I'd really reload after all major sim updates since the navdata might change which can cause issues when loading flight plans into the sim.

The database is not shared to the remote computer automatically. See here for the details: https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/latest/en/NETWORK.html

I'd share the folder C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ABarthel\little_navmap_db on the flying computer and then simply run a batch/command file like copy_lnm_db.cmd to copy it over. Like

xcopy \\MYLFYINGCOMPUTER\little_navmap_db\little_navmap_msfs.sqlite C:\Users\YOURUSERNAMEONREMOTE\AppData\Roaming\ABarthel\little_navmap_db

Then you can reload using LNM on the flying computer and simply click the copy_lnm_db.cmd to copy it to the remote.
