Checklists Feature Not Working

Featured Replies

Hi! I'm having trouble with the Checklists feature. The Checklists tab is grayed out and inactive. When I click on it, I get the message "This feature is currently disabled, you can re-enable it from the General section." In the General section, the "Coordinated Checklists" option doesn't have a checkmark, and when I try to enable it, the checkmark appears and then disappears immediately. The "Coordinated Checklists" option just won't stay enabled.

Am I doing something wrong?

I've also noticed that when I enable or disable the "Strict Checklist" option in Advanced Options, the program crashes.

I'm using the IniBuilds A320Neo with the default livery.

If you have assigned a custom checklist, there is the possibility something is wrong in its format . In that case, send it to support (or copy and paste it here)and we'll get it going for you.

As for the crash, who knows maybe linked to the fact the checklist object doesn't exist yet. IF confirmed, we'll make sure the option can't be selected unless checklist is loaded. Thanks for reporting this

I haven't changed anything. I just bought and installed the program yesterday. The only troubleshooting steps I've taken are reverting to the default aircraft livery and reinstalling the program, but neither resolved the issue.
As I understand it, I cannot assign a custom checklist because the tab is inactive and inaccessible. As I mentioned earlier, when I try to enable the checklist feature, the checkbox is checked but immediately disappears.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the program, but copilot checklists are a crucial feature for me.

First, welcome aboard.

Of course it is crucial for every pilot.

If you tried the Demo a very long time ago and to ensure you have the latest mce.ini config in synch, I suggest you restore to factory settings.

Windows Start->Multi Crew Experience->Restore factory settings.

After that, don't run the sim and fire MCE.

You'll have to go through the wizardagain. No need for speech training if already performed that step.

Just in case it has something to do with a specific aircaft livery that MCE didn't identify properly, load Inibuilds A320 default livery, wait until the plane has completed loading, on tarmac ready to go in ANY state, then start MCE.

Assuming the plane is identified properly, the default checklist for that plane is expected to be named "FBW_A320_Check.txt"

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Multi Crew Experience\Chcklists\ folder and check the file exists. Open it in Notepad to see whether it looks OK.

Barring that, it could be something to do with overriding \My Documents\ (or its root) folders permissions.

When you do that, you could get Windows to deny some operations to other apps, like creating files programmatically in that location.

For instance, some xml file needs to be generated based on the actual checklist the user has assigned (be it default or custom). Windows may prevent that in which case the feature cannot be enabled.

Did you ever override permissions for that folder or C:\Users\ folder?

Go to \My Documents\Multi Crew Experience\Checklists\ folder and see if you can find a generated "FBW_A320_Check_rdr.xml" file there. Otherwise it would explain why the feature cannot be enabled.

Thanks!

So, I found the problem and now the checklists are working!
First, I reinstalled the program and reset everything to default settings - it didn't help. Then I remembered your words and the text file with checklists, FBW_A320_Check.txt, which should be assigned to this aircraft. And I couldn't find it in the folder. So I just copied another checklist from the Fenix A320 and renamed it to FBW_A320_Check.txt. I started the program and voila - everything worked!

Thanks for the quick help. Now I'll figure out the program. Is it integrated with GSX Pro? I seem to have found commands in one document, but when I say, for example, "Request Catering," the catering is not called. As well as all other GSX functions.

Good to hear you're up and running with all features.

Yes, there is GSX integration.

First, wait until the ramp agent introduces himself (happens when engines are off and battery is on). There are about 20 agents and one is selected depending on where you depart from.

To make a request, start with agent name + request

Simon werequest catering

Marco we need catering

ramp agent we're waiting for catering

May want to read this thread applies to all fully supported planes.

And this one shows you how you can teach the crew to understand ANY speech in ANY language.

For instance, the "Request catering" which is what you intuitively were eager to say could be made a valid command by tying it to a built in command. Therefore can ignore documentation and have your own way to interact with ramp agent.

This capability (natural speech) cannot be found in any other similar products.
