September 26, 20241 yr Hi there! I am a beginner simmer and have begun to discover Simbrief! I currently use the FBW A320neo and the PMDG 737-600 and love to do snowy landings and use the custom MSFS weather. However, (this is a crime I'm sure) I like to use the auto land systems as I'm on an Xbox controller currently and find landing very difficult. Anyway, when I use the auto land using live weather & my Simbrief plan, the auto lands are smooth and look excellent. But, when I use custom MSFS weather the plane lands at funny angles and sometimes doesn't flare at all! (Even in 0 wind landings) So I am guessing that the plan from Simbrief doesn't like the in-sim custom weather. Is there any way to resolve this? and any help would be appreciated!
September 26, 20241 yr Simbrief does not affect how your plane lands. My guess is that your custom weather exhibits a wind shear from the surface winds to the next lowest wind layer due to how you have the winds layered. As to autolands not flaring...any plane with autoland should use the radar altimeter as a height reference, so weather or QNH settings should not make a difference. Some aircraft use an internal Navigraph database that is based on real-world data...if your scenery has a different runway elevation, it might explain how flares aren't working right. FlyTampa's Las Vegas rwy 26L/R is one example where this problem can occur. As to getting custom weather into Simbrief--the only way I've been able to do that is to use ActiveSky to create a custom weather area, then upload that weather using the Simbrief downloader. Okay interesting, Thanks! I'll look into my wind settings a bit more! I like to create cinematics too (Albeit not the best) just for fun and to keep a record of my flights:here is my latest one if you skip to the end you can see the autoland on a default airport.
