Is there an updated download for this gauge? I can't seem to add the Gauge to the Lear 35. Only get a black pop up screen. Im using P3D v5 with active sky v5.

Hi there,

Yes there is a v3 updated version of Roland's Radar gauge for P3D v5, review the below thread for the details.

https://forums.hifisimtech.com/threads/free-wx-radar-gauge-for-popup-or-vc-integration-x64-p3dv4-v5-build.8594/

However it's access appears to be now restricted, either that or the owner has gone AWOL.

In anycase if you want to get the dll you can try requesting it from the owner or if you review the following thread you can also find it.

Cheers

Well I got the pop up window to work. It now displays the Bendix weather radar, however the screen says No Radar Link?

Hi @YPAD, is that with the version 3 dll ?

A No Radar link message means it's not connecting to Active Sky.

And I assume the Lear you're refering to is the Flysimware ?

If so you can embed the radar in the VC noting you must disable the popup as Roland's Radar doesn't support the use of both.

Panel.cfg embedded example where the exisitng MilViz radar bezel is used.

//-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Vcockpit38]
Background_color = 0,0,0
size_mm=512,512
visible=0
pixel_size=512,512
texture=$MV_WXM
//gauge00=MV_WX!WX,  0,0,512,361
//gauge01 = CONTROL_PANEL!clipboard RADAR W8,  90,50,330,250

// Embed the Roland Weather Radar fully into the Milviz bezel. Also note the Roland Weather Radar requires Active Sky Next (ASN).
// As the Roland Weather Radar is embedded there are click spots within the display mouse scroll wheel functionality to control On/Off. Tilt, Range and Gain.
// The spots are left of the centerline.

gauge00 = RolASNRadar!ORadGauge,  0,0,512,361, sweep|beam|icing|nogps|starton
//gauge01 = CONTROL_PANEL!clipboard RADAR,  9,81,400,300

I don't have Active Sky Next, running Active Sky V5.

Thanks for your help anyway, really appreciate it.

The comment in the panel config about needing ASN relates back to when I added the config , wayyy back before P3D v5 came out.

In fact nowdays I am running Active Sky v5.

You've not mentioned the version of the dll you're running ?

Cheers

 I'm not sure what version it is but I think it's 2. Have not been able to locate version 3 🥲

Right click on the dll and choose "Properties | Details", where the details hold the version number, if it is v3 the "File version" will be 3.0.0.0

Was the Milviz DHC-2 Beaver Update thread reviewed ?

Because you can either, (courtesy of Blackbirds Simulations and a series of community fixes), go the full hog and have yourself a nice and fixed DHC2 that's also preconfigured for Roland's Radar for P3d v5, or if you download the 1.1 update (smallest download) you'll "locate" it in that.

Cheers

The file version I had was 2.0.0.0. Found v3.0.0.0 and put it in the gauges folder. Unfortunately the radar still says No Radar Link.

So little steps forward, at least the right version of dll is confirmed.

I know the gauge does function so there must be something else going on, noting the gauge absolutely does require Active Sky.

  • What's your actual AS version ? Mine is AS P3D v8557 for both P3D 5 & 4.
  • Dependancies in place ? Like the required C++ runtimes ?
  • Was the "RolASNRadar_readme.txt" reviewed ? It has info on the required runtimes.
  • Where is your sim installed ? i.e. is it the default Windows "Program Files".
  • Do you run the sim as an admin ?
  • What's your actual version of P3D ? for example mine is 5.3.17 being the final 5.3 version released.

Also, is it likely there is another RolASNRadar.dll in a gauges/panel path somewhere ? e.g. the panel.cfg is finding a version 2 dll and running with that instead of the version 3 dll ? For high speed searching I use a program called Agent Ransack. It's fast and the free lite version is enough for the majority of searches.

I also have a scripted startup sequence that auto starts dependancies first i.e. Active Sky is started prior to P3D. Is that what you're doing ? e.g. starting AS prior to P3D ?

Cheers

Success! Got it working. There was another v2 dll folder somewhere.

Thank you so much for all your help.
