Prepare3dv5 lost aircraft paint and scenery

Featured Replies

After doing a repair I lost the colors on my A2A aircraft and some of the aircraft that came with prepare 3-D, also my orbix scenery.

I uninstalled prepare 3-D, reinstalled it and ran the exe for my A2A skyhawk, but no joy.

There is no config.sys Files in my prepare 3-D software.

If Someone has a working version of prepare 3-D version five could they post a picture of their system files?

I have a picture of mine, but don’t know how to get it into the post.

what should the path be for the A2 aircraft installation?

Assistance will be appreciated,

Thank you

Hi @Jibby, unfortunately you've posted into a sub forum for the SimConnect application, I think you'd be better off posting your question into the actual P3D forum itself https://www.avsim.com/forums/forum/436-the-prepar3d-forum/

But to answer what I can.

  • Yes there is no config.sys in the P3D software, I'm not sure why you would think that is an issue or why you need a pic of system files (a pic wouldn't be practical anyway).
  • If you've performed a repair via the Windows Programs and Apps repair options it is likely many of the existing files were wiped, meaning you'll probably need to reinstall addons like aircraft and scenery, unless you're talking about some other type of repair ?
  • There were quite a number of P3D v5 releases, what version is yours ? e.g. mine is 5.3.17 (P3D's Help/About menu item), also known has v5.3 HotFix2. The final version 5 release is known as 5.4 but has introduced some breaking bugs which is why I run v5.3 HotFix2.
  • A2A allow their aircraft to install in any predefined location, where access to P3D provided via an add-on.xml configuration file, for example I have P3D installed to "H:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\" and my A2A aircraft are installed to "H:\Addons_P3D\P3Dv5\06.Aircraft_P3Dv5\A2A\".
  • Note the Windows "Program Files" path is not a recommended path due to the Windows lockdown of the path.

I use Steam myself as I am a Steam member for FSX-SE and various other games and whatnots.

For example, here's one of my A2A birds in p3D v5 which I've modified with an oxygen supply and where the pic is hosted on Steam's screen pics repository.

Another of the freeware Grunman Goose.

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Hope the above gets you started and welcome to AVSIM.

Cheers
